This feature streamlines the critical process of keeping a large number of endpoint systems updated with the latest security patches. It empowers administrators to create flexible policies for automatic updates, reducing the load on a single server by enabling updates from various sources.
Update Settings
As an administrator, you have comprehensive control over how Net Protector Antivirus (NPAV) updates are delivered to your endpoints:
1. Update Mode: Choose your preferred update source:
Internet Updates:
- If all client systems have an internet connection, they can fetch updates directly from the internet.
- Proxy Server Settings (Optional):
- Auto Proxy Server: If a proxy server is enabled on client systems, you can use the auto-detection option.
- If the proxy server requires a username and password, you’ll need to provide those details.
- Manual Proxy Server: Alternatively, you can manually configure internet update settings by providing the IP Address, Port, User Name, and Password of your proxy server.
Get updates from LAN server:
- Provide the Network path of your EPS Update Server to allow clients to receive updates from a local LAN source.
2. Scan Memory after Update: Enable this option to automatically initiate a memory scan on the endpoint once the update process is complete.
Update Schedule Setting
You can define precise schedules for NPAV updates on your clients:
1.Daily Basis:
- Set a daily update schedule for your clients.
- Specify a fixed time at which clients should receive their updates.
2.Interval Basis:
- Configure the update schedule to occur at a particular time interval, allowing for more frequent or less frequent updates as needed.
To configure these update settings, follow these steps:
- Create Policy: Begin by creating a new policy or feature policy specifically for “Update” settings within your Net Protector Endpoint Security console.
- Enable Automatic Update: Locate and enable the “Automatic Update” section and expand it to access further configuration options.
- Display Update Notification: Select the “Show update notification window” checkbox if you want users to see a notification when updates are being applied.
- Configure Update Mode: Select either “Download from Internet” or “Download from Specified Update Agents” based on your network setup.
- If choosing “Download from Specified Update Agents,” the “Update agent list” will activate. Select your desired Update Agents from the list. The Antivirus setup will be downloaded from the first agent in the sequence. If an agent fails, updates will be downloaded from the next in the list. You can reorder this list to change the sequence. If all specified Update Agents fail, updates will automatically fall back to the Net Protector (Endpoint Security) Internet center.
- Set Update Frequency: Choose your desired update schedule:
- Automatic: Let Net Protector manage the update schedule.
- Custom: Gain granular control. If “Custom” is selected, “Daily Start at” and “Repeat after” options will activate, allowing you to set a specific daily start time and repetition interval.
- Save Policy: After configuring all your desired update settings, click the “Save Policy” button to apply your changes.
- Reset to Default: Should you customize settings and later wish to revert to the factory default configurations, simply click the “Reset Default” button.
